Describe an app to Grok, and SpaceXAI says Build Mode makes a working version inside the conversation. A user can request changes in the same thread, then publish the result to the web.
Grok’s official account announced the wider access on Aug. 20. The change turns app-making from a benefit reserved for the highest consumer tier into something included with every paid Grok plan.

The highest-tier gate comes down
Build Mode debuted in July as an early beta limited to SuperGrok Heavy. People on lower SuperGrok and X Premium tiers can now select it without upgrading.
Using Build Mode draws from the subscriber’s shared weekly Grok allowance, and SpaceXAI has not disclosed separate limits for each plan.
The chat gets a Publish button
SpaceXAI says Build Mode can generate code, show a live preview and apply requested revisions. It can also add sign-in and a database, keep a project private to a team, and publish it on a custom domain.
On the phone, the prompt field simply says, “Build with Grok.” For consumers, software creation is now being presented as another request to make in chat.
